"We are honored to have Governor Chafee participate in this important Campaign. His support will help to promote awareness of senior hunger, a serious problem plaguing our community and communities across the country" said Heather Amaral, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island. "Governor Chafee's strong voice will provide much needed visibility for our mission. In this tough economy, the food and human contact we provide is needed more than ever".
March For Meals is a campaign which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community during the month of March through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.
All Rhode Island congressional delegates have each picked a day to take time out of their busy schedules and show their support by delivering hot, nutritious meals to our seniors in need! Another vital component of this month-long campaign is Mayors For Meals Day on March 20th, when Mayors statewide will meet some of their constituents by delivering meals in their communities. All these powerful voices together will promote a stronger awareness of Meals on Wheels crucial mission and goal that no senior goes hungry.
