A suburban registration can be issued for a motor vehicle with a convertible or interchangeable body or with removable seats, usable for both passenger and delivery purposes. This includes vehicles commonly known as station wagons or depot wagons and vehicles into which access can be gained through the rear by means of a hatch or trunk. The rear seats can be folded down to permit carrying articles as well as passengers. Suburban registrations are renewed every two years and are not allowed on pickup trucks with open beds.
Vanity license plates can be ordered for a commercial vehicle with gross weight under 9001 lbs. A vanity plate is any combination of letters and numbers that is not already registered to a passenger vehicle or motorcycle. Vanity plates are available in either the standard wave or optional sailboat plate design. Plates can be reserved online or by completing the Vanity License Plate Application. Costs are listed in the DMV Fee Table. To reserve a vanity plate online, you will need a Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card. You should know that additional registration and transfer fees will be due when you pick up your vanity plates at the DMV. Annual registration fees for vanity plates are higher than traditional plates. Any vanity plate request deemed offensive will not be processed by the DMV. A passenger vehicle vanity plate can be any combination of two to six letters and up to six letters and numbers. A vanity plate for a motorcycle can be any combination of five letters and numbers that is not already registered to a motorcycle or commercial vehicle.
An antique is defined as any motor vehicle at least 25 years or older. Antique license plates cannot be special-ordered. These license plates are issued as available in stock.
