Providence, R.I. – Governor Lincoln D. Chafee has announced that Rhode Island will enact its adverse weather policy for non-essential state employees for Friday, February 8, beginning with first-shift workers. Workers may choose not to report to work if they have the prior permission of their supervisor. Those who do not report will be required to discharge personal or vacation time.

The Governor has also authorized department directors to require second-shift employees to report early if necessary. A determination on third-shift workers has not been made at this time.
