Convicted Murdered Victor Arciliares Found Guilty in 2010 Shooting Death of Alfredo Barros

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin today announced that Victor Arciliares (DOB: 12/1/88) was found guilty by a Providence County Superior Court jury of one count of first degree murder, discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, assault with intent to commit murder and using a firearm while committing a crime of violence.

The jury delivered the guilty verdict after deliberating two and one half days following a five-day trial presided over by Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause.

During the trial, the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that on October 30, 2010, after a verbal altercation outside a gas station in Providence, Arciliares shot and killed Alfredo Barros while he sat in a vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of George and Marrin Streets in Pawtucket. The State also proved that Arciliares shot and attempted to kill the other passengers in the vehicle, but they were not seriously injured.

In June, 2012, Arciliares was sentenced to life plus 45 years for the October, 2009 murder of his girlfriend, 18-year -old Dayvellis Cotto.

Pawtucket Police Detective Richard LaForest led the investigation and Special Assistant Attorneys General John Corrigan and Peter Roklan prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
