Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin recently honored several individuals and organizations at the 8th annual Justice Awards. Among those honored was Newport resident Kent Dresser, executive director for Clean the Bay. The Justice Awards are given to individuals and community organizations in recognition of an extraordinary commitment to justice and the community, and are presented in honor of the eight previous Attorneys General.
Mr. Dresser and Clean the Bay were honored for the assistance to rid the Kickemuitt River of more than 90 illegal docks that were creating a navigational hazard. For those efforts and a mission to ensure that the state's coastal waterways and shorelines are clear of large marine debris, Mr. Dresser and Clean the Bay received the Attorney General Patrick Lynch Award for Environmental Protection.
"It is an honor to recognize those, like Kent and Clean the Bay, who put their community before themselves," said Attorney General Kilmartin who presented the honor to Mr. Dresser. "Clean the Bay is a wonderful organization that is doing great work in ensuring that Narragansett Bay and all our waterways remain open and available for people to enjoy."
