South Kingstown Residents May Now Renew Vehicle Registrations Online

If you live in South Kingstown, the auto registration renewal procedure just got easier! Governor Lincoln Chafee announced today that the Town of South Kingstown no longer requires a Town approval for all non-delinquent Town registration renewals. As a result, residents of South Kingstown are now able to process their registration renewals online.

"Online license and registration renewals reduce wait times for those who must go to the DMV to complete their other transactions," noted Chafee. "I commend Town Manager Steve Alfred and the local officials who have helped streamline this process for South Kingstown taxpayers."

RI Department of Revenue Director Rosemary Booth Gallogly says the new procedure is a win-win for the town and state. "As DOR director, I am thrilled that South Kingstown has made online registrations available to its residents and taxpayers. These online services are convenient for residents of South Kingstown and help to shorten the lines at the DMV!"

The Town of South Kingstown has discontinued the practice of requiring DMV to send all registration renewal forms to the Town on a monthly basis. Online renewal service is still not available to people who pay property taxes in Barrington, Central Falls, Exeter and Warren, due to their municipal tax clearance requirements. However, they are able to complete their registration renewals by regular mail, if they are clear of any personal property, and/or excise tax liens.
