Providence, R.I. - To honor the memory of Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe, who died April 12 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Governor Lincoln D. Chafee today ordered U.S. and Rhode Island flags across the state to be lowered to half-staff until Lance Cpl. Tarwoe is laid to rest. Tarwoe, of Providence, was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
The Governor's order applies to both U.S. and state flags on all public buildings in the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
