In a letter to Pawtuxet Village Care and Rehabilitation Center's legal counsel at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder, Dr. Michael Fine, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH), expressed ongoing concerns regarding clinical care issues at Pawtuxet Village Care and Rehabilitation Center.
"The facility's proposal to contract Genesis HealthCare as its interim manager does not allay concerns about the quality of care provided to the facility's residents," said Dr. Fine, adding that serious complaints continue to be investigated by HEALTH.
Steven M. Costantino, Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, said, "We cannot and will not tolerate non-compliance with standards upholding and protecting the well being of those entrusted to this facility for their care. Unless or until Pawtuxet Village can demonstrate that full compliance with all state licensing requirements is being met on a continual basis, our serious level of concern about the health and safety of the facility's residents remains."
