Providence, RI - Governor Lincoln D. Chafee will testify before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Finance Committees today, Monday, October 24, 2011.
The State House hearing has been called to review the Rhode Island Retirement Security Act of 2011 (RIRSA), the comprehensive pension reform plan introduced to the General Assembly last week by Governor Chafee and General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo.
The Governor is expected to give an overview of RIRSA and offer his views on why Rhode Island must adopt comprehensive pension reform – including addressing independent municipal plans – this year.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., with the Governor's testimony expected following opening presentations.
