At the request of Cox Communications, the Office of Attorney General is reminding the public that it is against federal law to disable, tamper or remove generators that are connected to broadband and communication networks.
Cox has reported instances where generators have been removed or disabled in communities that are without electricity. The generators were set up to restore critical Internet and telephone service. Disabling or removing the generators eliminates access to the Internet or the ability to make phone calls, including emergency 911 calls.
