The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that several exits along I-95 that provide access to Coventry, East Greenwich, West Greenwich and West Warwick will experience overnight closures for resurfacing operations beginning next week.
The work, part of a $7.5 million contract with J.H. Lynch to resurface 6.6 miles of I-95 in southern Rhode Island, will take place Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through October. The project will affect Exits 6, 6A, 7 and 8 on both I-95 Northbound and Southbound, including on- and off-ramps. Drivers should expect rough surfaces due to milled pavement.
This is the third contract for resurfacing on I-95 in southern Rhode Island in the past two years.
All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. For a specific list of dates and times these exits will be closed, please visit the RIDOT Travel Advisories website at http://www.tmc.dot.ri.gov/traveladvisories/default.asp.
Those with questions can contact RIDOT's Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT's website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
