PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Pension Advisory Group will hold its third meeting Monday at the Weaver Public Library in East Providence. The agenda will include overviews on financing alternatives, defined contribution and hybrid plans and self-correcting mechanisms, as well as a presentation by the state’s actuary.
The 12 member voluntary group is an advisory body that includes local and national experts on pension reform from business, academia and labor. The charge of the group is to vet and organize information for the Governor and Treasurer as they work to develop a comprehensive solution for the General Assembly to consider during the special session on pension reform this fall.
The group will help foster honest dialogue about the real sacrifices that will be required to re-design a system to
• Attract quality employees
• Provide a level of security for its retirees
• Preserve funding for public services
• Protect taxpayers
Wednesday, August 17, 2011 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Where: Weaver Public Library 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914
