The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that a portion of I-95 in South County will be closed during the early morning hours on Thursday, June 23, for utility work. Northbound and Southbound lanes will be closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. between Exit 3 (Route 138) and Exit 5 (Route 102).
The highway is being closed so National Grid can run overhead utility lines across the road. The following signed detour routes will be used:
I-95 Northbound Detour
• Take Exit 3B (Route 138) and follow Route 138 West (Main Street)
• Turn right onto Route 3 (Nooseneck Hill Road) and follow approximately 6.5 miles
• Turn left onto Route 102 North (Victory Highway) and take Exit 5 on-ramp to I-95 North
I-95 Southbound Detour
• Take Exit 5A (Route 102) and follow Route 102 South (Victory Highway)
• Turn right onto Route 3 (Nooseneck Hill Road) and follow approximately 6.5 miles
• Turn left onto Route 138 East (Main Street) and take Exit 3 on-ramp to I-95 South
Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT’s Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT’s website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
