Governor Lincoln D. Chafee has proclaimed May 5, 2011 to be a “Day of Prayer” in the State Rhode Island. The Proclamation encourages Rhode Islanders to recognize the many blessings and freedoms in their lives. In declaring this special day in Rhode Island, Governor Chafee joins Governors across the country who have designated today a “Day of Prayer” in their home state.
The proclamation reads, in part: “Rhode Island was to be a lively experiment, made up of a variety of religious, spiritual, and cultural traditions, each deserving the same respect, recognition, and freedom to practice as the next.”
