Cranston, RI – Lisa Holley, the Interim Administrator of the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), announced today that the Department will open a temporary branch at 999 West Main Road in Middletown to better accommodate area residents affected by February’s branch closing. The new office will open in early May and will remain open until a permanent location is secured.
“I am pleased to be able to announce that we will be opening a temporary Middletown location to offer the same level of services previously available,” Holley said. “We will continue to work to secure a permanent Aquidneck Island location. We view this as the first of many positive steps that the DMV will be taking to better serve the citizens of Rhode Island. This is a top priority of Governor Chafee and one that I and my team take seriously and will work hard to accomplish.”
The DMV’s previous Middletown office on Valley Road closed February 11 due to the completion of its lease.
Governor Chafee appointed Lisa Holley as Interim Administrator March 30 with the instruction to do whatever is necessary to reduce wait times and improve customer service at the DMV.
