Abraham Montijo Sentenced for Second Degree Child Molestation and Second Degree Sexual Assault

Abraham Montijo (DOB: 9/9/69), whose was last known to reside in Pawtucket, was ordered to serve seven years for second degree sexual assault and second degree child molestation.

Montijo was found guilty on January 10, 2010, by a Providence County Superior Court jury on one count of second degree sexual assault (P2-2007-2258A) and one count of second degree child molestation (P2-2007-3211A) on two separate victims. The trial was heard before Superior Court Justice Judith Colenback Savage.

On the second degree child molestation, Montijo was sentenced to 20 years, with seven to serve and the remaining 13 years suspended with 13 years probation. Montijo was sentenced to 15 years with seven to serve and the remaining eight years suspended with eight years probation for the second degree sexual assault, sentences to run concurrent.

The Court also imposed a no contact order with either victim, no unsupervised contact with any child under 18 without court approval, registration as a sex offender with community notification on the child molestation, and counseling. In addition, the Court required Montijo to pay restitution for the counseling costs incurred by the two victims.

The second degree sexual assault occurred on February 23, 2007 in the City of Central Falls. The second degree child molestation occurred on a date between 1999 through 2001 in the town of Lincoln. Both sexual assaults were committed upon young relatives of Montijo.

Second degree sexual assault carries a term of incarceration of not less than three (3) years and not more than fifteen (15) years at the Adult Correctional Institutions. Second degree child molestation sexual assault carries a penalty of not less than six (6) years or more than thirty (30) years at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Montijo has been remanded to the Adult Correctional Institution since the trial.

The case was prosecuted by Ronald R. Gendron, Assistant Attorney General, on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General. The cases were investigated by the Central Falls and Lincoln Police departments.
