Providence, RI – Governor Lincoln D. Chafee today announced that Christine Hunsinger, former Executive Director of the Moderate Party of Rhode Island, will join his administration as Legislative Director.
“Christine brings with her a wealth of experience from across the political spectrum,” Governor Chafee said. “She has proven herself to be a true independent – focused on results rather than partisan concerns. Given this, she is well suited to connect effectively with legislators of all political stripes to work for the overall good of the people of Rhode Island.”
“I am honored that Governor Chafee has given me this tremendous opportunity to serve the people of Rhode Island,” Hunsinger said. “His commitment to turning the state’s economy around, creating and preserving jobs, and getting Rhode Island working again is clear – and I am proud to be joining his administration.”
After being named Executive Director of the newly formed Moderate Party of Rhode Island, Hunsinger also served as campaign manager for Moderate Party gubernatorial candidate Ken Block. In that role, she was the overall architect of Block’s campaign, responsible for all branding, messaging, scheduling, paid and earned media, voter contact, field activities and get-out-the-vote efforts. Block ultimately earned 6.5% of the general election vote, well surpassing the 5% required to ensure the Moderate Party’s placement on the 2014 ballot.
Prior to her work with the Moderate Party, Hunsinger was Campaign Director for the House Democratic Campaign Committee of Pennsylvania and worked on the campaign of Jeff Beatty, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. She has also previously worked as an independent public relations and communications consultant and as Assistant to the Director of Pride of the Neighborhood Academies.
Hunsinger holds a B.A. in political science from St. Anselm College and an M.P.A. from Brown University.
