Providence, R.I. – Governor Lincoln D. Chafee announced today that retired Superior Court Judge Mark Pfeiffer will receive a contract extension for 30 days, during which time Governor Chafee plans to evaluate the continuing needs for financial oversight in Central Falls. Pfeiffer’s contract was due to expire tomorrow.
“Judge Pfeiffer has made significant progress in dealing with what is clearly a very complex and difficult situation in Central Falls,” Chafee said. “There is still much work to be done, though, and Judge Pfeiffer will continue to be intimately involved in the tough decisions required to return stability to Central Falls.”
The Central Falls receivership was created through statute, but Judge Pfeiffer’s appointment was determined contractually.
