Providence, R.I. – Out of respect for and remembrance of the victims of Saturday’s shooting in Tucson, Arizona, Governor Lincoln D. Chafee today ordered flags across Rhode Island to be lowered to half-staff until sunset, January 14, 2011.
“This was an unthinkable tragedy, one that has brought me and many Rhode Islanders great personal sadness,” Chafee said. “As a sign of respect for those killed and wounded in this act of violence, I have ordered flags on all public buildings lowered to half-staff until sunset on January 14. My thoughts are with the victims of this senseless attack.”
The Governor’s order applies to all public buildings in the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
