The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will be closing Exit 20 (I-195 East) on I-95 South next week during overnight hours as part of a resurfacing operation on I-95.
The closure is expected to take place after 11 p.m. on Monday, September 20. All lanes will be reopened by the morning commute on Tuesday, September 21. RIDOT has been closing lanes on a regular basis since mid summer for resurfacing of both I-95 and I-195 as part of the Iway project.
Traffic bound for I-195 East should follow a signed detour using Exit 18 (Thurbers Avenue). There, they can reverse direction and use Exit 19 from I-95 North to reach I-195 East.
Motorists should expect delays during this operation and may wish to consider alternate routes.
Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT’s Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT’s website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
