As a reminder, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will be temporarily closing three ramps in Lincoln that provide access to and from Route 146 tonight. The ramps will remain closed for approximately one month due to a resurfacing operation on Route 146.
The closures will affect access to Route 146 North from Wilbur Road and access to and from Route 146 South and Route 246 (Old Louisquisset Pike). The operation to close off these ramps will take place overnight tonight into tomorrow morning.
Detour maps can be found online at: http://www.dot.ri.gov/travelri/detourmaps.asp. The detours with turn-by-turn directions are as follows:
• Route 146 South to Route 246: Continue past closed exit. Take the exit for Route 123 (Breakneck Hill Road). Turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn right again to return to Route 246. • Route 246 to Route 146 South: Follow Route 246 South. Turn left onto Route 123 (Breakneck Hill Rd.). Turn left onto on-ramp to Route 146 South. • Wilbur Road to Route 146 North: Cross over Route 146 overpass. Turn left onto Route 246 South. Turn left onto Route 123 (Breakneck Hill Rd.). Turn right onto on-ramp to Route 146 North.
RIDOT this spring began construction on Route 146 from south of the Sherman Avenue exit to the area of the Route 116 interchange. RIDOT expects resurfacing operations to conclude in Fall 2010, but the project will continue until Summer 2011 as the Department is also rehabilitating the Wilbur Road Bridge as part of this project. The $8.2 million project is being built by D’Ambra Construction and is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT’s Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT’s website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
