The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and the Town of Warren are celebrating the opening of the Warren Bike Path, a new 1-mile bikeway in the eastern portion of town. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. on the path at Warren Recreation Park on Asylum Road.
RIDOT provided $1.2 million for design and construction of the path, which extends from the Kickemuit River to Long Lane, close to the Massachusetts border. The path adds to the state’s growing network of bike paths – now 55 miles long with the inclusion of the Warren Bike Path.
Directions to Bikeway Dedication:
From Providence: Follow I-195 East into Massachusetts. Take Exit 2 (Route 136). At the end of the ramp, turn right to follow Route 136 South back into Rhode Island. In approximately 3 miles, stay left at Market Street to remain on Route 136 then turn right to follow Route 136 on a one-way road to Child Street. At the intersection with Child Street, turn left to follow Route 103 East. Turn right at Cole School Road (first right after Kickemuit Middle School) and follow until it merges with Asylum Road.
