The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is closing the Sherman Avenue off-ramp from Route 146 North in Lincoln on Sunday night. The exit will remain closed for approximately one month due to a resurfacing operation on Route 146.
Motorists seeking access to Sherman Avenue from Route 146 will need to either take the Route 123 (Breakneck Hill Road) or Route 116 (George Washington Highway) exits to reach Great Road, which will lead to Sherman Avenue.
RIDOT this spring began construction on Route 146 from south of the Sherman Avenue exit to the area of the Route 116 interchange. RIDOT expects resurfacing operations to conclude in Fall 2010, but the project will continue until Summer 2011 as the Department is also rehabilitating the Wilbur Road Bridge as part of this project. The $8.2 million project is being built by D’Ambra Construction and is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT’s Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT’s website (www.dot.ri.gov) and its social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Blogger.
