PROVIDENCE, RI -- Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will launch a new website with a new URL this Monday, Dec. 7. The new site will make it easier for people to vote, help businesses grow and make government more open and accessible.
To make it easier for Rhode Islanders to find the Secretary of State's office on the Internet, the website address will change to www.sos.ri.gov. Most state agencies and departments already use ri.gov, so the public is familiar with it. SOS stands for Secretary of State, and for the help the office gives Rhode Islanders every day.
"Our current website is good, so we are keeping all of the existing features. But our new website will have new content and new organization that will make it even more useful," said spokesman Chris Barnett.
Even though sos.ri.gov will be the new web address, the old URL will continue to bring visitors to the new website for a while. But customers who bookmarked frequently used pages should update their bookmarks.
The new site will enable visitors to register to vote, find new businesses leads and track public meetings of state and local boards, commissions and agencies. For more information about www.sos.ri.gov, contact Barnett at cbarnett@sos.ri.gov or 222-4293.
