This service may be used to request a renewal of an Operator’s License, State ID, or Commercial Driver License from the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles. You will be required to provide updated information regarding your organ donor and voter registration status.
Your REAL ID status cannot be changed or updated using this service. For more information on REAL ID, please refer to the DMV website.
Your new License/State ID/CDL will be mailed to the mailing address on file with the DMV, and you will have an opportunity to verify this address before completing your request. If an address change is necessary, you may change it online at www.ri.gov/DMV/address_change or by completing a Change of Address form and mailing it to the Cranston DMV. Please allow 15 minutes for the address change to take effect before trying your renewal again.
Upon completion of your renewal request, you will be able to print a receipt or have it e-mailed to you. This receipt, along with your current License/ID/CDL, will be accepted for state and local law enforcement purposes. If you do not have a printer or e-mail address, you may request a renewal, but no receipt will be available indicating your request.
No Refunds and No Cancellations are available after completion of your renewal request.
Your renewal request will be processed within 24 hours. You will receive your new License/ID/CDL in up to 60 days.
