Another successful academic year for Rhode Island Training School residents will culminate at their commencement ceremony on June 28th from 6:00-8:00pm. Of the 21 residents being honored, 5 are youth who earned enough credits to graduate from their local high school. The other 16 are students who studied to pass their GED.
The commencement will be an opportunity to celebrate these students’ hard work and dedication to their education. Keynote speaker will be Kobi Jason Dennis from Partnership to Address Violence through Education (PAVE), Boys and Girls Club of Providence, and Providence Housing Authority. A motivational, lyrical performance will be provided by a studious ten year old 4th grader, Adonis Isom, of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Members of the Training School faculty, DCYF, community and state representatives, in addition to friends and family of the graduates will be in attendance.
After the ceremony, attendees are invited to stay for a reception held in honor of the graduates. AS220 will provide musical entertainment.
Media are invited to attend.
